For Simon Johnson aka Sidestep, it's all about the dance floor. Always the first to start bobbing and the last to leave when the lights come on, Sidestep's feet tap in his sleep.
Sidestep produces House music but his love for banging beats and infectious grooves is spread evenly across all genres of dance music, from Reggae to R&B, Latin to HipHop. Sidestep prides himself on being a versatile DJ, playing all flavours of dance music.
Sidestep got his training wheels as the co-writer and bassist for the now disbanded live five-piece outfit Gathered Grooves. He has since polished up his production skills and released a handful of underground remixes that have totalled over one thousand downloads worldwide. His remix of The Loose Cannons' "Superstars" got a spin on Kiss FM London and from there he was asked to remix their next single "What Have You Done For Me Lately?".
2008 marks the dawn of a new era for Sidestep with the release of his first mainstream remix. Catching the ear of ARIA Top 10 producer J-Wess, Sidestep's remix of "Anything For You" is a taste of things to come. "It's a simple, Fedde-le-Grand-style Electro House feel with a bit of jazzy, Chicago spice."
Sidestep has more remixes in the making but is determined to start focusing his efforts on DJing and taking his sound straight to the clubs. If you like to shake it, bump it and jack it, be sure to check out a Sidestep show.
