Cha! Overzealous marketing needs to go elsewhere. An event means a thing in a physical location that people can attend (I'm not interested in arguing the philosophical point). A record release isn't an event. People need to treat this site in a way thats friendly to the community that they themselves are apart of. It's not a straight up marketing opportunity. Okay, so, if we need a way to better support promoting releases, let's talk about that, but straight up, we don't want to see releases posted as events, why because it opens it up abuse big time. People just posting anything as an event tomorrow just so it's top of the page and everybody sees it.
Events work for both you and your audience, because you get to tell people about your event, and your audience wants to know. As soon as that starts to change and people look at the events and have to start filtering out what is and isn't a real event they can go to, the whole thing has gone to mud.
In short, don't post releases as events then
Meanwhile DO please(!) keep telling us all what u r doing
Thank you
