Profile Information

About:
Bopstar, emergent DJ/Producer/Composer and now Soul Heaven recording artist, came up under the twin wings of Phil Asher (restless soul) and Afronaut (Bugz In The Attic). His first ever single 'Octavia', a slice of sci-fi soul, was picked up by Phil for the restless soul label in 2007, and remixed for Co-op, the label arm of the legendary club, where it gained minor anthem status. The next Bopstar track, 'Chiaroscuro', was championed by Benji B on his BBC 1xtra show, and came out on Unique Uncut's Basement Soul compilation.

Also in 2007, Bop started the club night Patterns with Simbad, Kay Suzuki, and Afronaut, which in just a handful of sessions played host to Zansika, Phil Asher, Benji B, Marc Mac (4Hero), Mark De Clive Lowe, Bembe Segue, Domu, Bugz In The Attic, Fanatix, Ear Dis, Danny Native, and Jazzanova. Along with Afronaut, he also set up the Coopr8 website, on outgrowth of the club, and the whole global scene.

In 2008 Bopstar joined Deja Vu FM (www.vulive.co.uk) for a Sunday night radio show, playing mostly house, a touch of broken beat, a few classics, and the occasional slower joint.

With dubplates galore, and a proven record of smashing it on any dancefloor Bop's dj bookings have gone quickly from just a couple of self initiated gigs in 2007 to playing for numerous promoters and club nights in any month.

As we move into 2009, he has delivered one of the hottest remixes around, that of Perempay N Dee 'In The Air', and, his next single 'Captured' (with restless soul remixes) is due soon on Soul Heaven records. Add to that the forthcoming remix of Small Arms Fiya ft Pete Simpson, the next two Bopstar singles already completed, a slew of unofficial remixes and re-edits, and his contribution of a bonus track to the Phlash & Friends album, and he's still only getting warmed up.

Don't sleep on Bopstar in 2009.

Releases are not Events

Cha! Overzealous marketing needs to go elsewhere. An event means a thing in a physical location that people can attend (I'm not interested in arguing the philosophical point). A record release isn't an event. People need to treat this site in a way thats friendly to the community that they themselves are apart of. It's not a straight up marketing opportunity. Okay, so, if we need a way to better support promoting releases, let's talk about that, but straight up, we don't want to see releases pos… Continue
