[Lee Scratch Perry, Gil Scott Heron, DJ Shadow Vs DJ Krush, David Rodigan, Adrian Sherwood, Marc De-Clive Lowe, Cool Vibe Review + Rebirth Of Cool Hong Kong, Armaghetto, Clash, CLF Weekender - London] He also works as a Writer for Film & Television [Running his own studios] and is a multi award winning Art Director + Graphic Designer. Finally.....he is both Creative Director of Tribal Broadcast Records and Executive Creative Director of The CHRONIC LOVE FOUNDATION [CLF]. As Digital Sound Scientist and DJ, Mickey has been dropping it hard and eclectic across the planet [HK, Lon, Paris, NYC, Kiev] since 1992 under the name DJ MICKEY SMITH and now produces his own unique 'solo' music projects under the apt moniker of JAZZHEADCHRONIC. As well as hosting his own radio show THE JAZZHEADCHRONICLES on southcityradio.org/
He is also one half of LIVE Acousti-lectric band THE CULTURE CHRONICS [Formed 2003]. Dropping it on Decks, EFX + Live Sampler n' Kaoss alongside musical partner The Godfather of Live Drum & Bass, Arranger, Producer, Drummer MARQUE GILMORE the innamost on Acousti-lectric Drums, live logic, emu and EFX. Alongside them, special regular guests such as:- legendary Sax Scientist STEVE WILLIAMSON and Tabla Warrior AREF DURVESH + more. The Culture Chronics dedicated to pushing the boundaries of Live digi-acousti-lectric science and bass driven frequencies beyond the 21st century. A nu kinda tribalistic funk dropped at 180 bpm. LIVE! Mickey is also DJ of choice for Marque Gilmores DRUM FM project, which ripped apart THE RIO LOCO 2006 Tribute to Senegal Festival. Performing alongside legends such as YOSSOU N’ DOUR, CHEICK LO + ORCHESTRA BAOBAB.
2008 saw the launch of Mickey and Marque Epic Nu Live Experimental, Improvisational Ancient To Future Audio Ensemble THE CHRONIC LOVE ORCHESTRA. The 23 Century Future Band made up of an ecelctic collective of over thirty of Londons leading cutting edge artists. Including Steve Williamson [sax], Jessica Lauren [keys], State Of Bengal [bass], Khadijatou [Vocals], Lisa Lore [Vocals], Chimera String Quartet [Strings], Jo Silverston [Cello], DJ Le Rouge [Decks N' FX], DJ Siya [Decks], Jamojamoarts [African Drum and Dance] + More.
Right now Mickey is busy working on numerous projects [Music to NPD], including a new JAZZHEADCHRONIC album release on nonine records THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN EAR DRUM and as Co-Founder and Executive Creative Director of The CLF - the opening of a new major state of the art multi-media Creative Workshop, Film / Music Studio, Live Concert + Club Venue and Fringe Theatre in a 120 Year Old Converted Warehouse THE BUSSEY BUILDING, 133 Rye Lane in South London. Housing THE CLF ART CAFE, CHRONIC ART FOUNDATION GALLERY, CLF CREATIVE ACADEMY + more.
