Dubstep? What the by jaysus is it?

People keep telling me a lot of my bruk tracks are dubstep but of course they are broken beat. When I ask them to point me in the direction of some dubstep they can't. They just say it's the kind of stuff I play.

Is dubstep just what the wider world (outside our little London bubble) calls broken beat and if not what the fuck is it??

Does anyone know any dubstep tracks or artists I can look up? If it is anything like broken beat I want to find some.....Please help
